Dating back to his playing days at Georgia Tech and, before that, as an athletic standout in his hometown of Macon, Georgia, Pete Wellborn has loved sports. This passion manifests itself in his sports law practice, which couples his knowledge of the underlying sports with the creativity and perspective borne from his decades of broad legal practice. Wellborn's Clients include Coach Bill Curry (the current head football coach at Georgia State University, formerly the head coach at Georgia Tech, Alabama, and Kentucky) and Athletes Performance Institute (founded by human performance icon Mark Verstegen and widely recognized as the top training facility in the world for elite athletes). Wellborn's sports law experience also includes the representation of professional boxers, Olympic track-and-field athletes, NFL players, NBA players, WNBA players, NCAA basketball coaches (men's and women's), and NCAA football coaches. Wellborn was also a co-author of Coach Curry's football coaching manual, "Sanity, Survival, and Winning." Wellborn believes fervently that, in today's sports world, an elite athlete often needs a lawyer to help choose and negotiate his agent deal and has performed that function for many professional athletes over the years.
